Because God Made Us

My kiddos got home from school today and found me staring at a blank screen.  When asked what I was up to, I told them that I was writing this article for the Spirit Shot.  They looked confused and pointed out that there weren’t any words on the screen.  I explained that sometimes I have to wait for a spark.  Then one of them said, “You could write about Jesus.”  I said “Great idea!  What about Jesus?”  “Well how good he is to us because he made the world…and he made our houses…and he made us…and animals…”  I told them how helpful that was and thanked them for their help.

I love that the greatest identifier for my kids is that God is someone who makes us and provides for us and all creation.  This is one of the first images we get of God in the Bible.  Our God is known through creating and blessing us.  This is important in times when we are faced with the realization that we are in need of something greater than we can achieve on our own.  The belief that God made all that we know and has provided all that we need leads to gratitude, trust, and respite.

As we move into a program and school year, as unusual as this year has been, we step into God’s creativity and growth.  We follow the lead of God who is always making a place for us to live and move and have our being. I look forward to all that God has in store for us as well as the assurance that even in our difficulties, God will be with us.

We love you and God loves you.
