Welcome!

While Josh is on sabbatical, your vestry members will be supplying Spirit Shot messages, so please allow me to be one of the first to welcome The Rev. Erin Jean Warde to Holy Spirit. She’ll be subbing for Josh through his sabbatical. I hope that you’ll help to give her a Holy Spirit welcome as only this parish can.

Earlier this year, as the vestry participated in its annual retreat, we introduced ourselves to new members, and we each reflected on our own arrival at Holy Spirit. What a remarkable similarity those stories offered! Each of us recalled experiencing a tremendous welcome from a warm and enveloping church family. I wonder if each of you have a similar story.

Of course we’re called to this by the Gospel. But I’ve visited other churches, and I think that our parish hears that call as loud and as clear as any church that I’ve attended – another reason that Claire and I were pleased to visit Holy Spirit in 2001 and felt welcomed by this special group.

So I know that I don’t have to ask you to welcome Erin Jean; you’ll do that naturally. So perhaps I’ll just think of this as a reminder that Sunday will be her first worship with us. Come join in the celebration with her. And elsewhere in this Spirit Shot, you’ll see news about a special reception for her after the 10:30 service.
