Good and Faithful Servant

My Dear Friends at Holy Spirit,

It is with great joy (and a bit of sadness, too) that we are making the announcement that Suzy Spencer, as of 1 July, will be moving into a full-time position as the Chaplain of Holy Spirit Episcopal School.  For the last many years Suzy has been serving both the School (a most incredible ministry of Holy Spirit Church) as well as the Parish Community, splitting her time half and half-ish.  When I first arrived here Suzy told me that she was contemplating an offer of a complete commitment to the ministry at the school. I was happy to support her in that discernment.  Her decision was made some time ago and we had chosen to wait to announce it till the end of the school year, for lots of reasons.

I am very happy for her as she has a wonderful way of being engaged with the spiritual lives of the youth and families at the school. The school can certainly us a full-time Chaplain.  Our School is growing in numbers and classes this fall.  It is very exciting, demanding additional faculty and staff to accommodate the growth.

Moving forward here at the Church, it will be up to the new Rector and the Vestry to work on how to array the various ministries that Suzy has attended to, as well as configure the staff moving forward.  This offers the new Rector some flexibility in prioritizing and staffing for the ministries that best serve the Church Community.

There is a very positive working relationship between the Church and the School.  The Rector is the ex-officio Chair of the School Board as well as the Vestry and so will be in a great position to move forward for the good of both.

Best news, Suzy and family are going nowhere, and will continue to be engaged with all of us!  Congratulations, good and faithful servant!

Fr. Bob
