Holy Week at Holy Spirit

My Friends at Holy Spirit,

The Church has framed for us a wonderful Lent this year with its readings from scripture and prayers at our Liturgical Celebrations on Sundays.  We here at Holy Spirit have increased that invitation into the spirit of Lent through our many offerings into thoughtful and prayerful gatherings like our Recollection Day, Reconciliation Celebration, varied forms of the Stations of the Cross,  themed and lay led Sunday School for adults and Children’s Church for the little ones and our guided meditation books for each day of Lent, and even structured Lenten family practices.  I am so thankful for the opportunity to be present with so many of you for these services and practices.

Holy week is upon us.  Please consider joining with the Holy Spirit faith community at prayer during the week, either for all or some of our special prayer times.  The Church sets the table this week with a variety of celebrations held but once a year. (e.g., palms, foot washing, overnight vigil, veneration of the cross, Easter fire, Easter water, Baptisms, flowering of the cross and most especially the solemn proclamation of the Passion Narratives).  They range from the most somber of services to the most glorious.

Prayerfully consider joining with your community and the entire Church throughout the world as we celebrate during this week we call Holy, the life, death and resurrection of our Savior.

Peace and blessings of the season.
Fr. Bob
