From the Basket to the Promised Land

All week our little ones have been showing up to church after lunch for VBS!  After we missed VBS last year (even when we tried to reschedule it for Christmas break!), it has been so wonderful to see and feel the energy back on our campus.  They have been learning all about Moses complete with crafts, songs, stories, games, and snacks.  I can also attest from my own home that they have also been sleeping VERY well every night after all the activities!

Moses’ story is such a wonder of faith.  Standing up to Pharaoh, leading the people through the waters of the Red Sea, encountering God face to face, and guiding the Israelites home is an amazing account of how God used Moses.  God is one who delivers even when it seems all is lost.  As Jesus will point out this Sunday, it is God who sent them the manna from heaven in the wilderness and it is also God who sends us the bread of life, God’s own self, in Jesus.  God is always in the business of deliverance.  God’s desire is for us to be free of the burdens and difficulties that are so often present in life.

I believe that Suzy Spencer, our Director of Family Ministries, chose a perfect theme for this week.  Our children needed to hear that it is always God’s desire to free them from difficulties, especially after this past year.  God continues to tell us the story of His desired freedom and peace for us.  I hope that all the games, songs, crafts, and snacks are fun, but I especially pray that each one of our little ones will hear the story of our God whose love sets us free.

We love you and God loves you,
Josh Condon+

PS-  Thank you so much to all of our volunteers!  Thank you to Suzy for organizing such a great week.  Thank you to all of you for supporting Holy Spirit so that things like this can happen and for praying for all the wonder of our VBS week!
