Dear Holy Spirit Family,

I am in awe of the support offered by our community to Holy Spirit over the past year, and truly humbled by the opportunity to once again guide our annual stewardship campaign. In a time that has often felt like taking two steps back for every step forward, Holy Spirit has been a consistent beacon of hope and faithfulness. I am grateful for that, and I know that you are as well.

This year, we are focused on being Joyous Together! The work we do together at Holy Spirit can bring about an abundance of happiness: for ourselves, for each other, and for those in our community. I use the word ‘work’ intentionally, as Christian life is something that we do actively, it isn’t done to us (except for the grace part – Jesus has that covered). Even while sitting in the pews on Sunday morning, we are putting in the work of standing together, kneeling together, reciting and singing together, standing again, kneeling again, and (one day soon, God-willing) approaching the altar rail -- together. When we do these things together, the collective sense of God’s presence among us is amplified, and we rejoice in the knowledge that we are not alone.

Opportunities to be Joyous Together don’t usually just happen spontaneously. Thankfully our community is blessed with clergy, church staff, vestry, and laity who combine their time, their talents, and yes, their treasure, to make sure that our time together is meaningful and life sustaining. Over the past year, these opportunities have continued to look a bit different than we might prefer, and unfortunately that may continue for a bit longer yet. Throughout these times, however, the Holy Spirit has guided us toward opportunities for worship, fellowship, and service to our community. Through constantly evolving services, community outreach, outdoor meetups and video chats, our chances to be Joyous Together have felt simultaneously new and familiar because we were able to do them together.

We ask you to continue being Joyous Together this coming year at Holy Spirit. Your prayerful consideration and pledges will make a huge difference. 2022 promises to be a year of incredible growth and triumph for our community, and I am personally so thankful to have you with us.

Your Brother in Christ,

Will Stafford
