Volunteering Together

My Dear Friends,

I am so looking forward to spending time this weekend in prayer with you all as Bishop Doyle visits and we are blessed to Confirm and Receive 6 individuals into our Church and into our Parish Community.  I hope you can make it to celebrate with us at our one, great celebration beginning at 10:30AM.

I am also happy that we had a great turnout for our Annual Meeting last Sunday.  One of the discussions that the Vestry continues to have, an issue that was confirmed at our meeting Sunday, is the continued need for volunteers from among us and the efficient coordination of those volunteers.

I am proposing that we create an office for volunteers in the parish that is, of course, managed by volunteers.  We are asking that folks think and pray about the possibility of working alone or with another in the “Office of Volunteer Ministries.”   Now the work of organizing and encouraging our volunteers and soliciting new volunteers is spread over several staff and ministry heads who often don’t coordinate, as it almost impossible to do so with our current system.  I would like to consolidate this ministry under the authority of a Coordinator of Volunteer Ministries.  Our data base, REALM, is rich in potential for further organization and efficiency.  If there is anyone in the congregation who might wish to work with me and the staff and offer 4-5 hours a week to this mostly administrative staff position, I would love to talk.  Just give me a call at the office or on my cell number.

Soon we will enter into the season of Lent in the Church.  We have a full range of possibilities for Spiritual and personal engagement that will be offered. This week we will make available the schedule of all those offerings.

Peace and every blessing!  Hope to see you Sunday.

Fr. Bob
