Continuing our Lenten Journey

My Dear Friends,

As we continue in this holy season of Lent I would invite you to consider some of the Lenten themed offerings of this week.

On Wednesday evening at 7PM in the side Chapel of our Church, I will be offering a short reflection and a celebration of The Reconciliation of a Penitent, found in the Book of Common Prayer.  The formulation will be for all of us gathered and individual reconciliation will take place only as desired.  I invite you all to join us in our side chapel for this celebration of the love and forgiveness of God that we remember each Sunday when we pray, during Lent: "Bless the Lord who forgives all our sins."

On Thursday evening, I hope some of our families can make it to the Lenten Practice of packing for the Blessings in a Backpack ministry of the congregation.  It is a wonderful opportunity to teach love and especially concern for God's poor as we gather to do our little part to make the world a better place and to tend to, literally, the needs of hungry children.  Please consider making a donation of the foods that are requested for this or for last month.

I am so proud that we have a few young folks signed up to go to Camp Allen this weekend.  They will be with kids from four other parishes in the Houston area and be at Campsite 2.  Please keep our young forks in your thoughts and prayers as they go away together for a little retreat and fun together.

On Saturday morning at 10:30, MEN and WOMEN are all invited to join the DOK in Church for a special Way of the Cross celebration.  This devotion was begun by the Franciscans hundreds of years ago and has become popular simply because it invites you into the feelings and emotions of those who actually participated in that first journey to Calvary with Jesus.

I pray your Lenten Journey is filled with prayer and Joy,
Fr. Bob
