My son has just started playing T-ball. We went to the athletic store, bought him a glove, a bat, and several practice balls. I took him to the batting cages earlier this week and helped with the teams batting and throwing practice last night. It is an exciting time as he gets ready to play a new sport and having seen his joy at hitting the ball (quite well I must add), I am reminded what it is to experience the joy of someone I love so much.
All of the exciting things we embark upon must bring God a similar kind of joy. Starting to have annual retreats three years ago has been an exciting endeavor. Sharing in the joy of the capital campaign and looking forward to our ground breaking this spring is an exciting endeavor. Seeing people embrace new ministries, like new Altar Guild members, is exciting. Seeing our Blessings in a Backpack program, youth program, family ministries, Seniors, Retirees, and Empty Nesters program, our Betweeners group, and more are all exciting endeavors. Through it all, I pray that we may give God the glory for what God is doing in our midst. Thanks be to God for providing us all we need. May we enjoy being a part of this wonderful gift of life.
“O God of unchangeable power and eternal light: Look favorably on your whole Church, that wonderful and sacred mystery; by the effectual working of your providence, carry out in tranquility the plan of salvation; let the whole world see and know that things which were cast down are being raised up, and things which had grown old are being made new, and that all things are being brought to their perfection by him through whom all things were made, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.” – Book of Common Prayer, page 280
