“Think of us in this way, as servants of Christ and stewards of God’s mysteries” – I Corinthians 4:1
We are three weeks into our capital campaign and every time I sit with people and discuss all that came out of our listening campaign two years ago and all the discernment and work that our Building Committee has done, I get excited. It is an amazing thing to see something come into being from mutual dreaming, planning, and commitment. It is also amazing to get to see everyone get excited about what God is doing at Holy Spirit.
In whatever we do together, let us never lose sight of the truth that we are servants of Christ and stewards of God’s mysteries.  Holy Spirit is a touch point for the relationship we live out with our God wherever we go.  All we do is meant to be in service to the one who made us, redeemed us, saved us, and loves us completely.  All we do is meant to live into that identity and even when we forget or make mistakes, we are to live in the joy of forgiveness and the hope of Christ.
This is why a place like Holy Spirit is so important to our common life.  This is where we come to worship.  This is our connective place from which we go to care for so many in need.  This is where we share in feasts together, both holy at Christ’s Table and casually when we eat together.  This is where we create space for our students to grow into the people God made them to be.
Our shared home here is like home base for the spiritual life we live even beyond our campus.  We are a source for west Houston to encounter the love of God in Jesus Christ and share it with others.  Our capital campaign, “Living Our Legacy,” is a chance for all of us to rejoice and participate in what God is doing here.  God is doing something big at Holy Spirit.  Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
